Desk Phones for Remote Workers

Remote and teleworkers can be provided a fully functional business phone at their home or remote location. These remote phones are connected to the VoIP business phone network via the internet and provide all the same functionality that a desk phone at the business site will provide Give your remote workers any of the Cisco business-class phones, or use IP Communicator, a soft phone that can be installed on a laptop that provides all of the functionality of a desk phone. IP Communicator is a great option for traveling employees that can get access to the internet.

Unified Messaging

Unified messaging provides more options for reviewing and handling voicemail. Voicemail can be reviewed from the phone as with traditional phone systems, but with the added benefit of a graphic display of available messages along with caller ID information. This frees users from the traditional requirement to listen to messages in sequential order. Voicemail messages can also be forwarded as email attachments. This brings to bare a number of benefits; A single location for reviewing email and voicemail makes voicemail review even more convenient; Voicemail can be forwarded to appropriate parties; and, Important voicemail messages can be saved as audio files on the network along with other related files for future reference.

PC Companion Software

Companion softare is avaialble for Cisco IP Business Phone Systems that integrate the PC and phone experience by allowing users to click-to-dial from their contact list, receive caller-ID pop-ups, see which co-workers are on the phone, and more.

Supporting Software

A number of industry specific productivity products are available that integrate with Cisco IP phones. Wi-Fi Business Phones

Another benefit to moving the voice traffic onto the IP network, is that it makes Wi-Fi phones possible. Cisco 802.11 wireless business phones don't communicate with the base like traditional 900Mhz cordless phones. Instead, they communicate with the wireless LAN, which in turn allows users to roam anywhere in the facility and carry a fully functional IP phone on their hip.

Lower Cabling Costs

A seperate cable plant system is required to support traditional phone systems. But with an IP Phone system, a single cable plant system supports phone and voice. Most IP phones can even share the same port with a PC, so only one cable run is required per work station. This can have a significant impact on initial installation and Moves-adds-and-changes (MAC) costs. Reducing the port count also reduces the patch-cable clutter in the telecommunications room.

Improved Troubleshooting and Reliability

A single communications infrastructure reduces the number of points-of-failure which in turn improves reliability and troubleshooting efficiency.

Full-Duplex Phones

This isn't a feature that is related to voice over IP, but we feel it important to point out that all Cisco phones sold by KIT are equipped with full-duplex speaker phones. This feature can often be overlooked when purchasing so some cheaper phone systems and most residiental phones use half-duplex speakers. For those unfamiliar with the term, a half-duplex speaker phone only allows one party to talk at a time, which can make coversation difficult.
